VOLUNTEER PARK: OUR FAV PARK ON FLATHEAD LAKE

Volunteer Park is an absolute gem and is just 3 miles from the cabins. As the only public park on Flathead Lake, we feel so lucky to have it in our little town of Lakeside. The lake has incredibly picturesque views, direct access to the lake and is beautiful in all seasons but really shines in summertime.

Park Highlights

  • Prime Location:

    • Situated in the heart of Lakeside, this park provides direct access to Flathead Lake, one of the largest natural freshwater lakes west of the Mississippi.

  • Waterfront Features:

    • A small beach area allows visitors to swim or relax by the water.

    • There’s a public boat dock and launch, making it convenient for boaters and paddlers to access the lake.

  • Family-Friendly Atmosphere:

    • Grassy areas and picnic tables offer spaces for families to enjoy meals together.

    • The shallow lake access near the shore is perfect for children and beginners learning to kayak or paddleboard.

  • Scenic Beauty:

    • The park provides panoramic views of Flathead Lake and the surrounding Mission and Swan Mountains, offering excellent photo opportunities.

Activities

  • Swimming & Wading:

    • The calm, clear waters of Flathead Lake near the shore make it a favorite spot for casual swimming.

    • Swim platforms are a summer favorite and you will likely witness kids jumping, flipping and cannonballing into the lake

  • Boating:

    • Use the boat dock for launching personal watercraft like kayaks, canoes, or paddleboards.

  • Fishing:

    • Anglers often cast from the dock or shoreline to try their luck at catching native fish species like lake trout and whitefish.

  • Relaxation:

    • Many visitors come simply to sit on the benches or grassy areas to read, meditate, or enjoy the serene environment.

  • Paddleboarding & Kayaking:

    • Grad a rental across the street at a local favorite: Sea Me Paddle and enjoy the day exploring our beautiful lake from the water
